Scotland - North East Coast

Along the Hermitage walk are some fallen Douglas Firs that have been cut to free up the walking trail. People have shoved hundreds of coins into the tree's rings! I hadn't seen that before. Wishing trees??? Money doesn't grow on trees but maybe in them???
